County Louth (or Lu in Irish) on the East Coast of Ireland is the smallest county in Ireland (it is affectionately called the 'Wee County'). Nevertheless it is has quite a long coastline with counties Meath and Dublin to the south and county Down to the north.
The Cooley Peninsula and Carlingford Lough are a most beautiful part of the county. From the Cooley Mountains are beautiful views of the Mountains of Mourne and Carlingford Lough, and the coast of the Irish Sea to the south.
The river Boyne runs through the town of Drogheda to the south, flowing under the wonderful Boyne Viaduct (this carries the Dublin-Belfast train).
